Private psychotherapy note option for every session, with rich text editing options
I’d like to have the option for every session to create a private psychotherapy note that is clearly separate from the client record; I’d like it to have rich-text editing options because I want to leverage AI to extract useful clinical details (e.g., new history, potential EMDR targets that came up, etc.) — love the “Save to Private Note” button idea — and be able to differentiate using different font options (text color, highlighting, size, etc.) between the AI-generated text and my own voice.

Develop a practice-level setting for fully Out-of-Network practices!
1. Add a setting in Settings > Business Details (or Billing): "This practice is exclusively out-of-network with all insurers" (toggle). When enabled: Hide/remove insurance enrollment, payer management, and in-network claim filing workflows (because practices that are not in network don’t need to see any of this and if it is showing, the clients could get very confused, thinking that they should upload their insurance card and details. Suppress insurance-related UI elements from billing, superbill, and client setup flows. Display a clear label confirming out-of-network status on the practice profile. Simplify the overall billing experience for practices that will never file insurance claims. 2. Identified-Patient Designation on Couples Contracts When onboarding or viewing a couples contract, the client would see a field in the portal that reads, "Identified-Patient for Out of Network insurance filing” with options.: "Not applicable / no insurance filing""[Partner A Name]'s policy""[Partner B Name]'s policy"Clients should be able to set or update this in their portal during initial setup. 3. Superbill Auto-Population When generating a superbill for a couples session: Pre-populate the "Patient Name" / "Policyholder" field with the designated identified-patient. Show a confirmation step: "This superbill will be filed under [Partner Name]. Correct?"Allow override if needed, but the default is intelligent. Why This Matters: Eliminates UI clutter for out-of-network-only practices. Reduces manual work — providers don't have to hand-edit superbill names for every couples session. Clarifies for clients which partner should submit the claim, reducing reimbursement delays and confusion. Scales effortlessly — once set on the contract, it applies to all future superbills for that couple. Use Case: A couples therapist, out-of-network with all insurers, creates a couples contract. During portal setup, Partner A indicates they want their name used as the “Identified Patient” on the Superbills, so they can file for reimbursement using their out-of-network benefits. When the provider generates a superbill, Partner A's name automatically appears as the patient. Partner A downloads the superbill and submits it to their carrier.

Cross-Session Analytics
I see analytics by session (talking ratio, speech cadence, etc.), but I don’t see a synthesis of these things across sessions. If it’s not already in the works, I see value in tracking some overall metrics in addition to per-session data.

Consistency of Verb Tense
I have noticed across all of my notes that there are discrepancies in the verb tense that is used in each section of the note. Some notes use a mixture of past and present tense, and other use one or the other. I need for my notes to be consistent. I want the Subjective section to be in past tense (ex. client reported...) and the objective section to also be in past tense (ex. client appeared...). The assessment section and the plan section should be in present tense (ex. client is demonstrating..., client will...). Can you please look into making this a consistent theme or maybe a setting I can choose when setting up templates?

Psychological assessment template
I do a lot of psychological assessments and use NovoNote for their templates. I think Upheal should create some. These are the ones NovoNote has related to assessment (I use all the neuropsych assessment related ones, comprehensive psychology report, and the ADHD/ASD ones). They have 118 templates total that include different therapy types as well. Here are their assessment templates: First Session – Intake ADHD Clinical Interview (Adult) ADHD Clinical Interview (Parent/Carer) Autism Clinical Interview (Adult) Autism Clinical Interview (Parent/Carer) DIVA-5 Assessment for ADHD MIGDAS-2 (Adults, Children/Adolescents, Limited Verbal Fluency, Parent/Carer, Teacher) ADOS-2 Modules 1–4 ADHD/Autism Diagnostic Report Developmental History Interview – Child Cognitive Assessment Child Cognitive Assessment Report Adult Cognitive Assessment Report Child Assessment Summary for Parent/Teacher Neuropsychology Pre-Assessment Interview Neuropsychological Assessment Session Neuropsychological Assessment Neuropsychology Feedback Session OT Functional Capacity Assessment Interview Cosmetic Readiness Assessment Drug and Alcohol Initial Assessment Eating Disorder Session (Adult) Psychiatric Clinical Interview and Assessment Comprehensive Psychological Evaluation Report Treatment Summary Report – Third Party Request

Practice form changes across packets?
I wonder if it is possible to make it so that any updates made to a single form (say, the intake) get universally applied to that same form if it is in packets? Currently we would have to delete the old form and they add in the new one. If it gets missed within a packet it could cause issues. Just wondering how doable this is. Thank you!

Upheal mobile app for therapists updates
Thank you for making the app more functional. I did notice, however, that only the sessions/client appointments show up on the calendar. So any “time off” appointments (meetings, actual time away) do not show up. Nor does the syncing that happens through my google calendar, which is a lot of courses, webinars, and other related practice appointments. So, as-is, the calendar is not really useful and I wold still have to log into a browser to view the calendar. Double-booking is a drag….. Thank you!

Medicare requires a unique identifier for each client note page to appear to ensure proper identification. At this moment I am working around by adding it at the end of the client’s last name. I would be more clean and helpful to have a space at the onset for this to either be created by Upheal or for the provider to create based on their own system history.

Just One Portal Link
I would like for my clients to be able to give my clients ONE portal link, not a different link for each session type. I have clients that do some in-person and some virtual—it is aggravating to them to have to keep track of multiple links. It would also be nice for linking with my website. I have a “Schedule a Session” button that I want to connect to a general portal. It’s clunky to have to have multiple buttons depending on the session type. I think it will make my website seem unprofessional.

Session audio playback
The current playback tool for session audio is very clunky and old-school. It would be great to be able to change the speed of playback and scrub/quickly navigate to a spot on the recording with more precision…right now the playback tool is so small that specific scrolling is very challenging. This would be helpful for supervision and personal use.

Allow clients to view progress analytics tied back to their treatment goals in the portal!
It would be helpful if there was an optional feature to allow clients to view progress analytics in the Client Portal that connect their sessions to their treatment goals (the Golden Thread). This would allow clients to check in on their therapeutic progress and see how their sessions relate to their goals over time. It is also a way for the client to be able to measure how effective therapy is over time. I am a brief therapist and this could be an amazing tool to help make me a better therapist!

Feature Request: Automated Daily Reconciliation Report
Upheal should provide the feature of an automated daily report that breaks down all payments received, invoices created, and refunds issued, scoped to the end of each business day. The report should be customizable by the provider and tied to their timezone. Requested Details: The report should include: Total payments received (broken down by method: card, manual, ACH, etc.) Number of invoices paid that day Refunds issued Net revenue for the day Unpaid balance (outstanding invoices) Any flagged items (failed charges, overdue invoices, etc.) Why: Reconciliation: Therapists can quickly compare the daily breakdown against merchant statements (Stripe, payment processor reports) without manually pulling data. Efficiency: Eliminates the need to log in and check payment analytics manually each day. Accuracy: Reduces the chance of missing or mismatching transactions. Customization: Allow providers to opt in/out and choose their preferred time (e.g., 5 PM end of business day). This kind of report could be set to send to us each day at the same time, adn we should be able to choose how we receive it. Some might prefer receiving it via email. I would actually rather the report arrive in my inbox in Upheal, so that it doesn’t clutter up my already dumpster-fire of an inbox in my email! :-)

Feature Request: Couples/Family Portal Access Parity
Summary: Enable couples and family therapy clients to access their individual client portals with the same functionality and features available to individual therapy clients. Current State: Individual therapy clients have full access to their client portal, where they can view session summaries, complete forms, access resources, manage account settings, view billing history, and self-schedule appointments. Requested Change: Extend comparable portal access to clients in couples and family therapy contracts. Each family member should be able to access their own portal view, similar to individual clients, to: View session summaries and progress updates Complete and track assigned forms Access practice resources and announcements Manage their own account preferences View billing history and account balance Self-schedule appointments for the couple/family Rationale: Consistency: Removes confusion about different feature sets across account types. Engagement: Increases client engagement and transparency in multi-person therapy. Autonomy: Allows clients to take ownership of scheduling and billing visibility. Compliance: Aligns with modern consent and transparency practices in couples and family work. Usability: Reduces friction for therapists managing multiple family members on one contract.
