👥 Supervision in Upheal
We're adding supervision session support so clinical supervisors can use Upheal the same way they use it for therapy sessions. You'll be able to record supervision meetings, generate notes from them, and use templates designed for supervision, covering case presentations, clinical feedback, and competency tracking rather than therapy content. For supervisors managing multiple supervisees, this means your supervision documentation lives in the same place as everything else. No more taking notes by hand or switching to a separate tool when the conversation shifts from client care to clinical training. Beyond recording the supervision session itself, we're also looking at co-signing workflows so when you supervise students or pre-licensed clinicians, their notes can route to you for review and signature inside Upheal. The end-to-end picture is: trainee writes a note, supervisor reviews and co-signs, supervision discussion is captured separately, all in one client chart.
👨👩👧 Minor Clients and Their Caregivers in Upheal
We're rebuilding how Upheal handles minor clients and the caregivers who support their care, so therapists working with children and adolescents stop having to force the platform to do something it wasn't designed for. When your client is a minor, the person sitting in front of you, the people who consent to treatment, the person who pays, and the people who receive scheduling reminders are often different humans. We're adding proper caregiver support to the client profile: multiple parents or guardians with their own contact info and portal access, the same parent email allowed across sibling profiles, and a clear way to send forms to the right caregiver based on what each one is supposed to consent to. Parent-child session and note templates come alongside, so you stop reaching for the Couples template and watching the AI misidentify who said what. This is foundational work. Once the data model knows the difference between a client and a caregiver, everything downstream becomes easier: scheduling, forms, billing, telehealth, notes. If you see minors and we're missing something specific to your workflow, drop a comment.
Group Therapy Sessions and Notes
We're adding group therapy support so you can run sessions with multiple clients and generate notes that reflect how a group actually works. Instead of creating workarounds with individual or couples sessions, you'll be able to set up a group, add members, and let Upheal capture the session with the full context of who's in the room. Group notes will capture overall themes and dynamics while noting individual client contributions, so each participant's chart gets the documentation it needs. Whether you're running a skills group, a process group, or a psychoeducation series, the notes reflect what actually happened rather than forcing group work into an individual session format.
Build Your Practice Website in Minutes
We’re building the ability to create your own SEO optimized practice website in minutes, with no templates to wrestle with and no tech setup required. Your site will be generated for you, fully branded, and ready to publish on your domain. It will be seamlessly connected to your public profile, intake assistant, and UphealOS features so bookings, forms, and new client requests flow straight into your workflow. A professional online presence without the usual friction.
Create Worksheets

Create a Public Profile in Under Seconds
We’re building automatically generated public profiles: ready in under 60 seconds. Instead of starting from scratch, your professional profile will be created for you and ready to share instantly. It’s designed to become your modern front door: seamlessly connected to the intake assistant and the rest of UphealOS, so new client requests flow directly into your workflow. Simple to launch, easy to customize, and built to help the right clients find you faster.
✅ Customize What the Compliance Checker Looks For
We're adding the ability to customize which rules the Compliance Checker applies to your notes so results reflect how your practice actually works. If you sign notes in a separate EHR, use a different billing workflow, or handle certain documentation steps outside Upheal, you'll be able to turn off the checks that don't apply to you. Right now, the Compliance Checker runs every rule by default, which means some providers see "not compliant" flags for things they handle elsewhere. With this update, you'll configure your preferences once in Practice Settings, and every compliance check going forward will skip the rules you've excluded. No more filtering through warnings that don't apply to your workflow.
🎨 Whiteboard in Telehealth Sessions
We're scoping a shared whiteboard inside Upheal's telehealth sessions, so you and your client can draw, sketch, and write together in real time without leaving the call to open another tool. For therapists working with kids and teens who engage better with something visual, walking through a diagram with an adult client, or sketching out a genogram or a thought map together, this replaces the awkward dance of switching to a third-party whiteboard or sharing a screen. You draw, your client draws, and what you create together stays with the session. This is in early scoping. If a whiteboard would change how you run telehealth with certain clients or modalities, drop a comment with what you'd actually use it for. The more specific, the easier it is to build something that earns its place in the call.
Apple iCal Calandar Sync
For all of us living in the Apple ecosystem, it's almost impossible to use your EHR without having our calendars synced with our Upheal calendars. It is critical that patients don’t book when we are booked for other events, and likewise we need to know real time when a patient books by having it populate our personal/clinic ical cladar so we dont double book - or miss an appointment.
Unified Intake from Any Source
We’re streamlining new client requests from any source (e.g. Psychology Today + your website + Alma/Headway) into one guided intake flow. Capture better-fit clients, triage faster, and optionally let clients request an initial consult time — with flexible settings so you can tailor the form and scheduling experience to your practice. A full HIPAA compliance is guaranteed. Illustrative screenshot

AI-Generated Discharge Summaries and Clinical Letters
We're adding the ability to generate clinical documents directly from your session history and client summary. Starting with discharge summaries and clinical letters, Upheal will draft these documents using the data it already has, including session themes, treatment progress, and diagnosis, so you review and finalize rather than writing from scratch. Discharge summaries will pull from the full arc of treatment to produce a comprehensive overview. Clinical letters for disability documentation, court requests, or referrals will draw on relevant session details and your client summary to give you a solid first draft. You'll review, edit, and approve every document before it goes anywhere, the same workflow you're already used to with session notes.
Customize and Preview Client Email/SMS Notifications
We're adding a Communication Settings area where you can view, edit, and preview the emails your clients receive, from session reminders to payment requests to appointment confirmations. This gives you control over your practice's voice in every automated message, so you can turn on reminders and payment requests with confidence that they sound like you.
🏥 Credentialing Support
We're scoping credentialing support for therapists who want to get onto insurance panels without giving up a percentage of their revenue to platforms like Grow Therapy or Headway, and without losing weeks to CAQH paperwork and panel follow-ups. The shape this takes is still being worked out. On one end, tools that track your credentialing applications, manage your CAQH profile, and remind you when recredentialing is coming up. On the other end, a fuller done-for-you service where Upheal partners with credentialing specialists to handle the paperwork on your behalf. This connects directly to the insurance billing work already underway, since being credentialed and being able to bill insurance are two halves of the same problem. If credentialing support would change whether you stay on Upheal or evaluate an alternative, comment on this post and tell us which insurance panels matter most to you. The more specific the demand, the easier it is to scope.
✅ Your Practice To-Do List & Notifications
We're rebuilding the home experience around one clear view of everything that needs your attention: notes waiting to be signed, treatment plans coming due, outstanding balances, pending client forms, and the follow-ups you'd otherwise keep in your head. You'll also get a proper to-do list. Add your own tasks, like calling a collateral contact or following up after a difficult session, and let the AI Assistant add what it notices, so "prep my day" becomes a list you can actually work through rather than a conversation you have to remember. Items clear as you complete them, and nothing important hides three clicks deep. The goal: open Upheal in the morning and know exactly where your practice stands before your first client, without hunting through the calendar, payments, and client pages to piece it together.
💳 Upfront Payments for Self-Scheduled Sessions
We're adding the ability to require payment when a client books through self-scheduling. When enabled, clients enter their payment details at the time of booking, and the session is only confirmed once payment goes through. If payment isn't completed within the time window, the slot is automatically released back to your calendar. This is especially useful for intake sessions, clients with a history of no-shows, or high-demand time slots where a missed appointment means lost revenue. You'll be able to turn this on per service, so it applies only where you need it.
📝 Treatment Plan Renewal Reminders
We're adding reminders for treatment plans that are due for renewal. Set how often plans should be reviewed for your practice, whether that's every 90 days or whatever your payer requires, and Upheal will flag the clients whose plans are coming due instead of you tracking dates in a spreadsheet. When a plan needs updating, you won't start from a blank page. Combined with treatment plan versioning, the update builds on the existing plan and everything documented since, so staying compliant becomes a review instead of a chore.
💳 Custom Invoice Details
We’re adding invoice settings so you can control what information appears on every invoice and give clients clear payment instructions. Set your business details once, add signatures, and include persistent custom fields like tax info, IBAN details, or supervisor information, with templates to support different payment methods.
Payment Reminders
It would be amazing to have payment reminders go out to clients, perhaps once a month, to ensure that invoices are getting paid. It might also be nice if, along with the reminders, we could have something said like, “Your payment is now due/overdue, and unless the payment isn’t made within 7 days, all future appointments will be canceled”. I don’t even know if that’s a possibility. But, at least payment reminders could go out every so often to alert clients who don’t check their email and who might have missed the initial invoice. Thank you for your consideration!!
🔐 Custom Roles and Permissions
We're letting you build your own team roles with exactly the access each person needs. Instead of choosing from a fixed set of roles, you'll be able to create roles for your practice and turn individual permissions on or off, from billing and scheduling to notes and client management. Each permission can also be scoped, so a role can act on just its own clients or across your whole practice. Rather than fitting people into preset roles, you define exactly what each role can and can't do. This gives you full control over who sees and does what, so your access setup matches how your practice actually runs, no matter how your team grows.
Audit Log Access for Practice Admins
We're making Upheal's audit log visible inside the app. The log itself already exists. Every action in your account is already recorded and retained to meet HIPAA requirements, and we can pull an export for you on request today. What's changing is that you'll be able to look at it yourself. Admins will be able to open the audit log from settings and see who did what, when, and where, across clients, notes, and account changes. Access is limited to the admin role, so what the rest of your team sees stays the same.

📝 Treatment Plan Versions and History
We're adding treatment plan versioning so you can update a plan without losing the previous one. When it's time for a new version, your existing goals and objectives carry forward, and the prior version stays accessible in the client's chart. Each plan includes proper start and end dates alongside the clinician signature, giving you the documentation you need for compliance reviews and audits. When you create the next version, AI can suggest updated objectives and interventions based on what's happened in sessions since the last plan, and you stay in control of what carries over and what gets revised. For group practices, every provider follows the same versioning structure, making it easier to maintain consistent records across your caseload. Update what's changed, archive what's done, and keep a clean history of your client's treatment over time, without rebuilding from scratch every six months. Looking for reminders when a plan is due for its next version? That's coming separately as Treatment Plan Renewal Reminders, so upvote that one too if you want Upheal to track renewal dates for you.
📅 Self-Scheduling for New Clients
We're adding a public booking page for each therapist so prospective clients can pick a service, choose an available time, and request a session without any back-and-forth. You'll get a shareable link (like /book/dr-jane-smith) that you can put on your website, directory listing, or anywhere else potential clients find you. When someone books through the page, you'll be notified and can confirm or decline the request before it's finalized. The client becomes a new record in your system automatically. You control which services are available for new clients versus existing ones, so you can offer an intake session publicly while keeping follow-up services limited to your current caseload. Existing clients who land on the page can identify themselves and get routed to their own scheduling options.
📈 Help the Right Clients Find You
We're building tools to help more of the right clients find you, without turning marketing into a second job. Better visibility where clients actually search, connected to your Upheal workflow so inquiries turn into first sessions. The first piece is in progress now: the Practice Growth Audit. Paste your Psychology Today profile or website and in about 30 seconds you'll see where you're invisible across Google, Psychology Today, and AI assistants like ChatGPT, which searches in your city have real demand and little competition, how your session rate compares to therapists like you nearby, and exactly what to fix, in plain language, no marketing jargon. Where clients look for a therapist is changing fast. Around 191,000 people search "therapist near me" on Google every month, and a growing number now ask ChatGPT instead. Most therapists are invisible in both places, not because they aren't great at the work, but because directories dominate one and nobody has shown them how they appear in the other. The audit covers both, and it will be free to run, no account or card needed. More is coming behind it, and your comments here directly shape what: tell us what would actually help you fill your caseload.
💳 Autopay: Charge the Card on File Automatically
We're looking at autopay: automatically charging a client's card on file so collecting payment stops being a recurring task. Turn it on per client, and once a session is completed, the charge runs on its own and the receipt goes out without you touching anything. You know the current version of this: a client owes for three sessions, you've drafted the follow-up message twice, and it's still sitting there. Autopay removes that conversation from the relationship entirely, which is better for you and honestly better for the client too. You'd stay in control of the details: which clients are enrolled, when the charge triggers, and what happens if a card fails. Nothing gets charged that you didn't set up.
📋 Your Notes Will Use the Diagnosis You Assigned
We're changing how diagnoses appear in your notes: when you've saved a diagnosis for a client, your documentation will use it, instead of inferring a diagnosis from that session's conversation alone. You told us why this matters, clearly and repeatedly. Many diagnoses rest on history that doesn't come up in every session: a past manic episode, when a trauma occurred, a pattern you established months ago. A note that reasons only from today's transcript can't know that, and you shouldn't have to correct your own documentation to reflect a diagnosis you already made. Your clinical judgment leads; the note follows it. If you haven't saved a diagnosis yet, nothing changes: Upheal will still suggest clinically relevant possibilities based on the session, and we're keeping that as a way to surface diagnoses worth considering, never as a replacement for your call.
Insurance Card client upload
Can there be a way for clients to upload pictures of the front and back of their health insurance cards added to the intake paperwork? It would be most helpful if they could do that as part of the inital set up.
Switch from Any EHR with AI-Assisted Migration
We're building AI-powered migration that works with exports from any EHR. Upload the files your current platform gives you, whatever format they're in, and Upheal figures out the structure, sorts documents by client, and brings your records over. It works even for EHRs we've never seen before. Today, switching means either manual re-entry or waiting on a concierge process. This turns it into a guided flow: drag in your export, answer a couple of quick questions, review what's coming over, and confirm. You'll see exactly what was imported before anything lands in your charts, so you can switch on your own schedule without losing your history.
🤖 Ask the AI Assistant About Your Imported Records
We're connecting the AI Assistant to the PDF files you upload from your previous EHR, so the years of client history you bring into Upheal stop being static documents and become something you can actually use. Once uploaded, the assistant can read those PDFs, reason across them, and answer questions about what's in them. Ask "what's the history of suicidal ideation with this client?" and the assistant pulls from the prior notes, intake assessments, and uploaded documents you brought over from SimplePractice or TherapyNotes. Ask it to summarize a client you haven't seen in six months before their next appointment, surface treatment history before writing a referral letter, or check whether a topic has come up before. The assistant works with the full picture of the client's care, including the parts that happened before they joined your Upheal practice. This pairs with self-service bulk upload, so bringing years of client history into Upheal stops being a manual back-and-forth with our team and becomes something you do in one sitting. The day you migrate is the day your imported records start working for you.
🤖🤖🤖 AI Agents for Your Practice, Including Your Own
We're expanding the Assistant into AI agents, background routines that handle recurring work without being asked. Session Prep is the first. Next come agents for things like keeping an eye on outstanding balances, tracking intake progress, and flagging compliance gaps before they become problems. You'll decide exactly how much each agent can do: read-only, ask before acting, or handle it automatically. And you won't be limited to our agents. You'll be able to create your own with custom instructions, so an agent can follow the rules of your practice, not a generic one. The goal is simple: the admin work that piles up between sessions gets done in the background, and you review the results.
🏥 Managed Billing, Insurance Handled for You
We're building Managed Billing, a service where Upheal's billing team runs insurance billing on your behalf. Eligibility checks, claim submission, payment reconciliation, and denial follow-up get handled by a dedicated biller inside your Upheal account, so you see the results without doing the work. Plenty of therapists want insurance revenue but not the hours of claims admin that come with it, or the awkward middle ground of paying a percentage to a separate billing service that can't see your documentation. Because your notes, sessions, and claims already live in one place, our team can work directly from your real records. We're starting with a small group of solo practices this summer. If you'd like to be considered, comment or upvote and we'll reach out as capacity opens up.

📊 Track and Visualize Assessment Scores Over Time
We're adding score tracking and visual trends for clinical assessments like the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 so you can see at a glance whether a client is improving, plateauing, or getting worse. Right now, if you want to compare a client's assessment scores across sessions, you have to open each submitted form individually and do the math yourself. With this update, scored measures from our template library will include automatic severity interpretation (e.g., Minimal, Moderate, Moderately Severe) and plot scores on a trend line over time. You'll see a clear graph with color-coded severity zones directly in the client's chart. We'll also retroactively calculate scores for assessments clients have already completed, so your historical data shows up on day one. This gives you an objective view of treatment progress in under five seconds, makes it easier to justify continued care to payers, and helps you catch concerning changes early instead of relying on memory or manual comparisons.
📱 The Upheal Mobile App for Therapists
We're building a native Upheal app for therapists so you can stay on top of your practice from your phone, especially in the moments between sessions when you don't have time to open a laptop. The app covers your schedule, secure messaging with clients, the AI Assistant, push notifications, and the ability to start a telehealth session from your phone when you're away from your desk. For therapists doing nature therapy outdoors, in-home sessions, or simply working between back-to-back clients, the app turns small gaps into useful ones: see who's joined the waiting room, reply to a client message, ask the assistant to summarize the next client before they walk in, or reschedule a tomorrow morning slot without opening your computer. This isn't a stripped-down companion app. It's Upheal where you already are, designed for the small windows when reaching for a phone is faster than opening a browser.
Appointment status options
Right now I am only seeing that we can make or delete session appointments. It would be very helpful and necessary to be able to mark sessions as late cancelations/no shows, rescheduled, or canceled, but so that they stay in the calendar with the adjusted status (maybe appointment is grayed out?). Related to that, being able to see the number of sessions, cancellations, etc in the client profile, to keep tabs on issuing fees, etc.
SMS Appointment Reminders 🔔
We’re adding SMS appointment reminders so clients can choose text instead of email. Therapists can set each client’s preference, and SMS will require opt in to protect privacy.
Secure Messaging (iOS & Android Apps for Clients)
We’re introducing secure messaging inside the Client Portal — so therapists and clients can communicate in one protected place instead of relying on email. Clients will access messaging through a new mobile app available on iOS and Android, making it easy to stay connected on the go. Conversations stay organized, secure, and linked to the client record. This makes it simpler to handle everyday coordination like rescheduling, quick questions, and billing clarifications reducing back-and-forth and creating a smoother experience for both sides.
💳 Client Billing in the Client Portal
We're adding a Billing section to the Client Portal so your clients can manage their payment cards, view invoices and superbills, and check payment status on their own, without needing to contact you. Right now, if a client needs to update a card on file or find an old invoice, that usually means an email or a message to you, and then you handle it manually. With this update, clients will see a clear overview of their payment history, download billing documents directly, and add or update their cards through Stripe. Billing emails will also link straight into the portal instead of attaching PDFs, so everything lives in one place. Less back-and-forth on payments, fewer failed transactions, and one less thing on your admin list.
🎨 Practice Branding on Invoices, Superbills, and Forms
We're adding practice branding across the documents and pages your clients see so invoices, superbills, intake forms, and the Client Portal carry your practice's identity instead of generic Upheal styling. Upload your logo once and it shows up everywhere it should, on every PDF Upheal generates and inside the Client Portal your clients log into. Practices that send superbills for insurance reimbursement, intake packets to new clients, or custom forms like school excuses and doctor's notes will have documents that look like they came from your practice, not a third-party tool. This is the first step toward fuller customization across the client-facing experience. Tell us what else you'd want to brand by commenting below.
💳 No-Show and Late Cancellation Fees
We're adding automatic fee charging for no-shows and late cancellations so you can enforce your cancellation policy without chasing clients or remembering to send manual invoices. You'll be able to set your own fee amounts and your cancellation window (24 hours, 48 hours, whatever your policy says) once, and then have Upheal handle the rest. When a session is marked as a no-show or canceled inside your window, the fee is charged to the client's card on file or added to their balance for next time. For practices that lose meaningful revenue to missed sessions, this turns a workflow you currently dread into something that just runs in the background, with a clear record of what was charged and why.
Scheduling in the Client Portal
We’re bringing scheduling into the Client Portal so clients can manage appointments in one place. Clients will be able to view upcoming sessions, access join links, cancel appointments, and book a new time through self scheduling, reducing confusion and back and forth with providers.
💳 Log Payments from Outside Upheal in One Place
We're letting you log payments from outside Upheal without auto-emailing your client. If a client paid you via Venmo, check, Ivy Pay, or cash, you can record the payment, link it to the session, and the related invoice is marked paid automatically. No more clients getting an unexpected email about an invoice they already settled. You can also optionally upload your own invoice PDF if you've already sent one outside Upheal, so all your records stay in one place. External payments count toward your totals, show up in payments analytics, and can be used to generate superbills, the same as anything Upheal processes. This is especially useful if you're migrating from another system and want your full payment history in Upheal from day one, or if you handle some clients through Stripe and others through Venmo, Zelle, or check.
