Juvenile Patients with Divorced Parents

In divorced, separated, or shared-custody families, both parents are often actively involved in a child's care and may have legal rights to access treatment information. Ideally, each parent would have their own secure login with access to appointments, reminders, visit summaries, and other shared clinical information.

At the same time, intake forms, questionnaires, and parent-reported histories should be submitted independently and remain private from the other parent, while still being fully accessible to the clinician. This would allow each parent to provide their perspective and relevant background information without concerns about confidentiality.

This enhancement would improve care coordination, streamline consent and intake processes, support legal and ethical requirements, and better reflect the realities of modern family structures. It seems like a practical solution to a common challenge faced by providers working with children and adolescents.
