Length of Session

Right now the default is for sessions to be 50min in length when scheduling. Technically, insurance companies regulate the length of a session to be at least 53min when using the most common CPT procedural code, 90837. I am wondering if we can work to customize the length of our sessions so that it automatically defaults to that time.

    We've updated the default duration for new sessions from 50 to 60 minutes, so standard appointments now meet the 53-minute minimum for CPT code 90837 automatically.

    You can also set a custom duration for each service under Settings → Services. That duration will be applied automatically whenever you select the service when creating a session.

    There isn't a separate practice-wide default duration setting yet. If that's something you'd still find useful beyond per-service durations, please let us know!

    I would like the same thing. The default could be 55 or 60 minutes and that would work. It takes extra time each time you do a manual entry to change this setting.

    The current default value 50 minutes serves as a “placeholder” and it’s CPT code agnostic. Meaning you can edit the session duration per your preference for that specific service to have flexibility. For that reason you can also setup a buffer, service based availability and so on.

    So it already works as you described: You select the code, then you can customize the length, and then when you select that service in scheduling, it automatically defaults to that time.

    As an example, I created a new service with the name “53 minutes service” but added a code 90832 for 30 minutes, and then I customized the length to 53 minutes. Now whenever I use it for scheduling, it defaults to 53 minutes per my customization.


    Or did I misinterpreted your feedback, and you would expect something else?
