Insurance billing is now live 🧩

You can now submit claims, check client eligibility, and post insurance payments right inside Upheal, no separate clearinghouse, and no monthly billing fee. It's built into the same platform where you write your notes, so a signed session becomes a claim without re-entering anything.

What you can do now

Get set up

  • Set up your billing profile and enroll payers, once: add your billing details and contracted rates, then choose what runs through Upheal for each payer: claims, eligibility checks, ERAs, or all three. You bill under your own NPI, with your own contracts and rates, no toggling between a separate billing system to make it work.

  • Collect insurance without the back-and-forth: clients can snap and upload their insurance cards and complete ROI/AOB forms digitally. You can bill primary and secondary insurance for the same client.

Bill and get paid

  • Turn a signed note into a claim: create a claim in one click after signing a note, or batch-create claims for every unbilled session. Upheal flags issues before you submit, and if a payer or clearinghouse rejects one, you'll see what happened and why, right next to the session it belongs to.

  • Check coverage before the first session: run an eligibility check for copays, deductibles, and mental health benefits, no payer portal logins needed.

  • Let payments match themselves: when the ERA arrives, Upheal matches it to the right claim and recalculates what the client owes.

  • See where the money stands, on every session: a billing hub shows client responsibility, expected insurance payment, and write-off in real time, so you can see expected vs. paid at a glance.

  • Get help when a claim is denied: Upheal drafts an appeal for you, pulling the relevant details from the client's chart to establish medical necessity. You review, edit, and send.

Ask Upheal Assistant

  • Ask it to check eligibility, create claims, explain a rejection, draft an appeal, or walk you through billing setup, all in plain language.

What it costs

There's no monthly billing fee. It's usage-based: $0.30 per claim submission and $0.15 per eligibility check. As a launch offer, every claim and eligibility check is free until October 1, while you get set up.

What's coming next

Billing today requires you to already be credentialed with your payers (or billing out of network). Credentialing as a service is on the way, along with:

  • Multiple sessions on one claim for batch submissions

  • Billing automations that keep claims and invoices updated from ERAs

  • Smarter denial prevention, with prior authorization and policy tracking built in

  • Managed Billing, a full-service option for practices that want it handled entirely
