Family therapy now has its own contract type in Upheal, so you can create a proper unit of treatment for families rather than working around the individual or couples contract. If you do family therapy today, you've probably been improvising with workarounds, and that shouldn't be necessary.
You create a family contract and add two or more participants with their roles (parent, child, guardian, and so on). From there, sessions work the way you'd expect: confirm which family members were present, capture the session using any method you already use (telehealth, in-person, dictation), and the AI generates a note with all present participants reflected in the header. New family-specific intake and progress note templates are in the template library, with Smart Sections that adapt to the session.
We've also added separate client reference settings for couples and family notes, so you can choose how participants are identified (first names or initials) independently from your individual note preferences. No more toggling settings between sessions. When you invoice a family, you choose which client the invoice goes to, and consent forms and Client Portal access work correctly for multi-participant contracts, so the family experience is built end-to-end.
