💊 Psychiatry Support Starting With E-Prescribing

We're building full psychiatry support into Upheal, starting with e-prescribing, so psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners can prescribe, order labs, and handle refills in the same place they document. You'll search for a medication by brand or generic name, set formulation, dosage, frequency, quantity, and instructions, then send it to your client's saved default pharmacy, including controlled substances. Confirmations and pharmacy replies come back into the chart, and anything you prescribe is added to the client's medication list automatically. Lab orders work the same way, going out to your default lab with results returning electronically to the chart. Your chart will hold what prescribing depends on: NPI and DEA numbers, drug allergies, active diagnoses, current medications, and vital signs. Clients will be able to request refills through secure messaging between sessions. Today this means keeping a second system open next to your notes, and a refill means a five minute phone call. After this ships, prescribing, ordering, and refills happen in the chart you already work in.

For Client Insurance Address Input

I am unable to save a client’s insurance info because it is an overseas address for a service member’s spouse who is the primary carrier. Is there any way to add those acronyms to the state dropdown section?

More flexibility with reminders

I should be able to change what reminders are being sent for each client individually. For example, if certain clients I know are on their phones more, they should be able to get multiple texts from one week out to three days out to one day out to even a few hours out. While other clients are more on top of their emails, I should be able to have it set for them when and how often they get emails, up to three or four reminders, sort of like you can do in Google Calendar

Working with the invoice-it should not be locked just because the note is signed

Just because a note is locked doesn't mean that I cannot work on the invoice right now. In your system, once the note itself is locked, nothing can be changed on the invoice. I think that should be corrected, and it should be two separate things

🔐 Custom Roles and Permissions

We're letting you build your own team roles with exactly the access each person needs. Instead of choosing from a fixed set of roles, you'll be able to create roles for your practice and turn individual permissions on or off, from billing and scheduling to notes and client management. Each permission can also be scoped, so a role can act on just its own clients or across your whole practice. Rather than fitting people into preset roles, you define exactly what each role can and can't do. This gives you full control over who sees and does what, so your access setup matches how your practice actually runs, no matter how your team grows.

balance/invoice being attached to a "locked" note

Currently, to change anything on a balance or invoice, you need to make sure the note is unlocked; otherwise, you won't be able to make changes. I think it would be best to change that because one has nothing to do with the other. Yes, the note can/should be be locked, but it should not be attached to what I need to change in the balance

👨‍👩‍👧 Minor Clients and Their Caregivers in Upheal

We're rebuilding how Upheal handles minor clients and the caregivers who support their care, so therapists working with children and adolescents stop having to force the platform to do something it wasn't designed for. When your client is a minor, the person sitting in front of you, the people who consent to treatment, the person who pays, and the people who receive scheduling reminders are often different humans. We're adding proper caregiver support to the client profile: multiple parents or guardians with their own contact info and portal access, the same parent email allowed across sibling profiles, and a clear way to send forms to the right caregiver based on what each one is supposed to consent to. Parent-child session and note templates come alongside, so you stop reaching for the Couples template and watching the AI misidentify who said what. This is foundational work. Once the data model knows the difference between a client and a caregiver, everything downstream becomes easier: scheduling, forms, billing, telehealth, notes. If you see minors and we're missing something specific to your workflow, drop a comment.

🏥 Credentialing Support

We're scoping credentialing support for therapists who want to get onto insurance panels without giving up a percentage of their revenue to platforms like Grow Therapy or Headway, and without losing weeks to CAQH paperwork and panel follow-ups. The shape this takes is still being worked out. On one end, tools that track your credentialing applications, manage your CAQH profile, and remind you when recredentialing is coming up. On the other end, a fuller done-for-you service where Upheal partners with credentialing specialists to handle the paperwork on your behalf. This connects directly to the insurance billing work already underway, since being credentialed and being able to bill insurance are two halves of the same problem. If credentialing support would change whether you stay on Upheal or evaluate an alternative, comment on this post and tell us which insurance panels matter most to you. The more specific the demand, the easier it is to scope.

👥 Supervision in Upheal

We're adding supervision session support so clinical supervisors can use Upheal the same way they use it for therapy sessions. You'll be able to record supervision meetings, generate notes from them, and use templates designed for supervision, covering case presentations, clinical feedback, and competency tracking rather than therapy content. For supervisors managing multiple supervisees, this means your supervision documentation lives in the same place as everything else. No more taking notes by hand or switching to a separate tool when the conversation shifts from client care to clinical training. Beyond recording the supervision session itself, we're also looking at co-signing workflows so when you supervise students or pre-licensed clinicians, their notes can route to you for review and signature inside Upheal. The end-to-end picture is: trainee writes a note, supervisor reviews and co-signs, supervision discussion is captured separately, all in one client chart.

Customize and Preview Client Email/SMS Notifications

We're adding a Communication Settings area where you can view, edit, and preview the emails your clients receive, from session reminders to payment requests to appointment confirmations. This gives you control over your practice's voice in every automated message, so you can turn on reminders and payment requests with confidence that they sound like you.

Audit Log Access for Practice Admins

We're making Upheal's audit log visible inside the app. The log itself already exists. Every action in your account is already recorded and retained to meet HIPAA requirements, and we can pull an export for you on request today. What's changing is that you'll be able to look at it yourself. Admins will be able to open the audit log from settings and see who did what, when, and where, across clients, notes, and account changes. Access is limited to the admin role, so what the rest of your team sees stays the same.
